Hey Brother - Avicii

This guy just keeps pumpin' out hits.

In this lesson I'll show you once more how to use Pop-Piano skills to translate guitar parts to piano and create your own unique piano versions.

Add some vocals (optional) and you're good to shine.

This two part tutorial for 'Hey Brother' features:

  • Some nice beginner - medium chord-voicing exercises combined with a nice steady left-hand pattern: all eighth beats alternating in octaves (Part 1: same inversions as the guitar plays on the original recording are played here on piano);
  • The second part is a little more challenging and features a melodic part for the right hand (the synth / brass lead 'hook' -> that very recognisable 'horn' melody) while 'comping' with left hand chords and patterns.

All skills in the video, are of course taken- and can be learned from the course.

Have fun playing!

Cheers, Coen.

Hey Brother - Avicii.

Part 1: Chords, Intro, Verse, Chorus.

Part 2: Hook.

All skills, tricks, tips, techniques and knowledge from this- and all other lessons @ this website are taken and can be learnt from my book / course 'Hack the Piano' - The unconventional shortcut method to truly understand music and the piano.
