V-log: Add flair to your chords and sound like a pro.

Hi All!

How’s everybody doing?

First of all: Thanks so much for all the kind, sweet, supporting, enthusiastic and positive responses that I received on last weeks, first V-log try! Success. ๐Ÿ™‚

Therefore, hereby my second try (taken into account all the feedback I got, hopefully already a little better than the first one, like to see something different? Leave a comment!).

Last request before starting with the actual lesson: PLEASE everybody, in stead of mailing me (don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every email I receive and will of course continue to get back to every one of them), try to LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW THE POSTS, so everybody can join/read/get involved and most of all: benefit. Your problem/question, and the answer to it, could help many others as well.

Ok then, on to the lesson.

Lesson: How to add flair to your chord-knowledge and sound like a pro.

What’s in the video:

  • A quick reference to this weeks tutorial video song, WHICH WILL BE UPLOADED AND ARIVE ONLINE THIS WEDNESDAY (Feb 27 2013). If you want to learn that actual song, STAY TUNED*.
  • Harmony / melody and it’s functions.
  • Explanation and example that ‘just’ playing chords, without adding any rhythm can also already be quite cool.
  • A short explanation / summary of basic rhythm.
  • How this translates into (a) pattern(s).
  • A very simple, basic pattern that, when executed in the right way can make a TON of difference.
  • Adding dynamics (and what a HUGE difference this makes).
  • Adding even more tiny accents in time, that really make you sound like a pro.

Please remember that everything mentioned in the video, is explained in much greater detail and logical order/steps (beginner – more and more advanced in logical steps) in the course. If you really want to get into the basics of Pop-Piano and learn how to understand everything, you might want to consider going for it.

*To give you the time to actually watch, do and learn from every one of these video’s, from now on I’ll stop ‘flooding’ you with 2 video’s at once (so that experiment lasted exactly one whole week ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and in stead, split it up to 1 video in the weekend, and another one in the middle of the week.
To prevent your actual inbox from ‘flooding’ I decided that it would be best to keep the frequency of the newsletter to 1 a week.

If however, you ARE interested in receiving TWO newsletters a week with two different video’s (one in the weekend, one around Wednesday), please let me know (in the comments or via email). If enough people are interested I could make a second mailing list.

Have fun and happy playing!

Cheers, Coen.

Questions? Remarks? Show me how you play this song! Please leave a comment below!
I’m also very curious which tutorial you’d like to see next!

    • Thank you very much for your comment and all your kind words Saulius. There's more soul in my list of tutorials (Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin etc.) and more coming as well! I'll definitely take a look at your suggestions as well. Cheers and thanks again!

  2. Practicing the C-G-Am-F with different patterns and started to sound like Let It Be by the Beatles. I am big fan of your teaching, would you mind doing a video lesson on that please. Also, I would love to learn Lady Madonna as well. Thanks in advance.
