As the title of this track suggests, practicing this monster-hit is indeed an excellent exercise for developing those left-hand bassline skills.
Quite an easy tune, chord-wise (did you expect otherwise with nowaday hits?) consisting of just the three part (three chord) blues-derivative progression, BUT highly illustrative again how just those three chords, using patterns and left hand bass line techniques, can make up quite the cool piano part.
Apart from challenging your left hand skills, the end result also consists of a tricky left and right hand combination pattern, where the left hand plays that bassline (that it’s all about) and the right hand counter-rhythms with an eighth beat pattern. Valuable stuff for practicing left and right hand combination / independence in here too!
All in all, now that I jot it all down, a super high value lesson for improving left, right, combining, independence and groove. Wow.
Beat is included to practice with, as is highly advised for keeping a steady pace and indeed improving your groove.
HALFtime beat (to practice slowly).
REALtime beat (to play along or practice in the actual tempo).
Have fun!
Coen.
