As most of you are well aware of, the larger part of this year has been about re-structuring, re-branding – and thus: re-building Piano Couture.
The Conclusion is finally in sight.
During this re-structure, we’ve learned a lot (thank you beta testers). And corrected course a few times.
I just wanted to give you a quick update on where we’re currently at, and where we’re heading.
Splitting | Where 1 becomes 3
Where initially, we started out trying to merge all the different ideas we had for piano and learning into our main website piano-couture.com, we are now in stead giving each concept its very own website.
This way everything stays / will become clear and concise.
Piano Couture -> Hack the Piano
This website (currently, at the moment of writing this post still accessible at as “Piano Couture” at piano-couture.com) is soon to get a new name. And a new domain (URL).
Actually it’s not completely new and also, not completely surprising.
Since we have been shifting the focus here more and more towards our main-, core program “Hack the Piano,” which is what this website will soon be all about, it is only fitting to name the immense lesson database we’ve built here over the years after the main program that underpins and holds it all together:
Hack the Piano – soon to be reached at hackthepiano.com. Not just the sales-page, you’ll currently still reach via that URL, but this entire website.
Our main method Hack the Piano – a program consisting out of multiple courses and modules:
- The Hack the Piano Launchpad Fundamentals Intro Course Program.
- The Hack the Piano Core Program
- Advanced Hacks Follow-Up Modules
Additional single lessons – ranging from Songs to Licks and Concept lessons.
Some of which are free (found at Hack the Piano’s blog) others (over 150 of them) are premium & deluxe lessons + downloads. Important is that they all follow- and/or add to that main method – Hack the Piano.
All of the premium content can be accesses in our member area, now called the Piano Hackers’ Lounge, either by:
- per-category subscriptions (Hack the Piano/Advanced Hacks/Songs/Concepts/Community)
- getting on the main program (Hack the Piano) and -optionally- adding any extra lesson that you might want as Add-On Subscriptions
- or by getting on the re-introduced, all-inclusive Premium Membership.
For those of you that have a profile here, nothing (except for the name of the website) will change for you.
Piano Lingo (pianolingo.com)
The experiments we have been running in the member-backend of piano-couture.com, testing a whole new way of learning using “course packs,” way more bite-sized lessons, quizzes and more fun and jokes under the beta-name Piano Lingo have proven really fruitful.
Taking what we’ve learned over the past few months and then re-structuring the experience as a complete, game-like experience (including the student’s own profile, growing in levels by earning points, unlocking extra’s etc.) has evolved in such a way that we have given it it’s very own site: pianolingo.com
Using our proven and beloved Hack the Piano method as the method and approach, Piano Lingo’s Roadmaps take you by the hand and teach you, in an ultra-guided way, how to speak music.
Piano Lingo (pianolingo.com) will open up for post-beta at the end of this month.

The “Learn” in Learn, Love, Live. – HackthePiano vs. PianoLingo
While both of these sites follow the same Piano Hacking approach, with the Hack the Piano method at their cores, the difference between them is that hackthepiano.com is “mix-and-match.” “Cookbook”-style. Pick your own recipe and learn on your own terms, with your own plan and on your own schedule.
The other (pianolingo.com) is all about guidance. Keeping score and accountability are key elements too. You’re told exactly what to do when. And earn credits for it.
Whether you choose Hack the Piano, Piano Lingo or both is completely up to your personal learning preference.
Good to know is that both of them offer the option to access to our Premium Webinars and Facebook group, where one can interact with like-minded students and teachers and follow live lessons all following our unique teaching method.
So what about Piano Couture?
Coen’s idea for Piano Couture has always been much bigger than only learning piano – hence the “Learn, Love & Live” tagline.
Over the past few years, we’ve been completely focussing on that first one – Learn, which has been truly awesome.
However, Piano Couture has grown and so we figured it was time to start paying attention to those other two main categories – Love & Live – again too.
In line with this Piano Couture will become its very own -new- site, which will basically become a “hub.” A blog where you can find info on all three of these subjects.
The “Learn” part – when wanting to go more in-depth – will mostly refer you back to it’s two sub-sites (it’s children, if you will) that we are now splitting off: hackthepiano.com and pianolingo.com.
The nearby future will also bring new children-sites for the other two categories.
For now, if you want to keep following the Learn aspect of Piano Couture and want to keep hacking the piano – learning how to speak the language of music by learning to play by chords, ear & heart, please -if you haven’t already- make sure you sign up at either Hack the Piano (hackthepiano.com) or Piano Lingo (pianolingo.com).
